A Community for Quiet People. Would You Like to Be Part of It?

You want to meet people, but walking into a room full of strangers feels difficult. You think about going to an event, then decide to stay home. Afterwards, you wish you had gone. If this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you. I’m exploring the idea of starting a community for quiet people who want more connection in their lives.

Being a presenter for much of my working life has given me plenty of experience speaking to an audience. I have also known the hesitation of entering a room and wondering how to join a conversation. Speaking on camera and feeling comfortable socially involve different skills. My interest in helping quieter people comes from understanding how much effort an introduction sometimes takes.

My idea is to bring people together in a small, welcoming group, with time to settle in and get to know each other. We would practise introductions, share experiences and try simple ways to keep conversations going. You would have opportunities to speak, listen and participate at a comfortable pace. We would also leave plenty of room for laughter and enjoying each other’s company.

I would love this community to give people something to look forward to. Familiar faces. Someone who remembers your name. A chance to talk about your week and hear about someone else’s. With regular opportunities to meet, we would get to know each other over time. Your first visit might feel uncertain. My hope is your next visit would feel a little easier.

Before I take the idea further, I want your input. Would you be interested in a community like this? What would help you feel comfortable attending? Leave a comment below, even if it is a simple “I’m interested”. Share what you would want from the group, too. Your feedback will help me shape the next step.
