What I Wish My Family Had Said to Me During My Addiction
For years I was the person your loved one is right now. Here's what I wish someone had said sooner — and why it would have made all the difference.

The Three Things Families Say to Someone With an Addiction — That Make Everything Worse

The night everything changed
This is the photo that started it all.
This is Kathy. And Brad. And me. Taken at the same restaurant on Jetty Road, Glenelg, where one conversation changed the direction of my life.
I walked in that night expecting dinner with my best mate. And then I saw Kathy.
What happened at that table — the words they chose, the way they sat with me, the fact that not once did I feel judged or lectured or like a burden — is the entire foundation of this course.
Within 24 hours I was in a car to the Hader Clinic in Geelong. Seven years later, I'm still here. Still present. Still grateful.
“They didn't save me by fixing me. They saved me by refusing to give up on me — and by knowing exactly what to say.”
Why it matters
I finally got my life back.
This photo exists because two people loved me enough to have the right conversation at the right moment. Before Glenelg, I was disappearing behind the TV career, behind the smile.
Making her proud is everything. And it started with one conversation.

Your instructor
“I know what it feels like to be on the other side of this conversation. I built this course so families don't have to figure it out the way mine did.”
For years I hid behind a successful media career while quietly struggling. The conversation that changed everything happened over dinner with my sister and my best mate. No lectures. No ultimatums. Just the right words, at the right moment.
Within 24 hours I was in a car on the way to the Hader Clinic in Geelong, where I spent three months in rehabilitation. That dinner saved my life. This course is that conversation.
I know what families go through because I watched mine go through it. The confusion, the fear of saying the wrong thing, the conversations that ended badly. None of that was their fault — they just didn't have a roadmap.
This course is that roadmap. Everything in it comes from real experience — from being the person nobody knew how to reach, and from the people who finally found a way through.
I'm not a psychologist. I'm not a counsellor. I'm not a doctor.
I'm something rarer — someone who was on the other side of this conversation for years, who knows exactly what it feels like to be the person nobody could reach, and who finally was reached. This course isn't clinical advice. It's a roadmap, built from lived experience, for the conversation that could open a door.
