Media Angle Brainstorm – Pair up and come up with 2–3 story angles based on your business. Share one with the room.

Crafting the Perfect Media Story (1 hour)

Goal: Learn how to uncover powerful story angles and write a professional media release.

Topics Covered:
✅ How to identify media-worthy story ideas
✅ Structure of a great media release (headline, hook, quote, contact)
✅ The “problem-solution-human” formula
✅ Do’s and don’ts when writing a media release

📝 Practical Exercise:
Write Your Media Release – Draft a headline and opening paragraph. Group feedback on selected examples.

Pitching to the Media (45 mins)

Goal: Learn how to get your story in front of the right people — and get published.

Topics Covered:
✅ Building your own media contact list
✅ Writing pitch emails that get opened
✅ When and how to follow up effectively
✅ Building authentic relationships with journalists

✉️ Practical Exercise:
Pitch Email Workshop – Write a subject line and opening sentence for a pitch. Group review and refine.

Media Interview Training (45 mins)

Goal: Learn how to prepare for media interviews and speak with clarity and confidence.

Topics Covered:
✅ Creating 3 clear key messages
✅ How to stay on message and handle tough questions
✅ Adapting for different formats: TV, radio, print, podcast
✅ Vocal and physical confidence techniques

🎤 Practical Exercise:
Mock Interviews – Practice interviews in pairs or groups. Volunteers may present to the group for coaching.
